Skin Cancer Action Week
November 15, 2020 @ 12:00 AM
Each year Skin Cancer Action Week is held in November.
All Australians are urged to use the 5 forms of sun protection:
- Slip on sun protective clothing
- Slop on SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen
- Slap on a broad-brimmed hat
- Seek shade
- Slide on sunglasses
A combination of the 5 measures, along with getting to know your skin and regularly checking for any changes, are key.
Teenagers are also encouraged to #OwnYourTone and use all 5 forms of sun protection and protect their skin from UV radiation during the week, as research from the National Sun Protection Survey indicated one in four (26%) teenagers are getting sunburnt on summer weekends.
Further information is available via the Cancer Council Australia website.
